Just want to get the ball rolling, we’re based in the south east of the UK in a town called bromley

  2. Christine de la Nougerede Says:

    Hello
Just bumped into this site – must be very new?!
I am one of a number of de la Nougeredes who are based mostly in the south of the UK – Hassocks, Burgess Hill, Haywards Heath, Horsham… (I myself now live in Spain).
My father and most of his brothers were born in India and came to the UK in 1947. We know a little about the family history but are always eager to learn more. Looking forward to seeing this site develop.

  4. Laura de la Nougerede Says:

This is quie strange, I come from a family of six and we come from East Sussex in Seaford, My father Peter de la Nougerede also was born in India and came to the UK in 1949. I have two sisters Ruth and Andrea and one Brother I am the youngest soon to turn 24 and Andrea is the eldest at 32.
It’s interesting that Christine David and my family all ended up in East Sussex, I wonder why we have all been drawn to that side of the coast??

I am so pleased this site has been created i’ve wanted to meet more of our kind for a long time….talking of which, have any of you heard of the anual de la Nougerede Party? it’s held in St Albans Hertfordshire every year, i’m not too sure how long it has been going on for, we went last year it was interesting.

  5. Ruth de la Nougerede Says:

    hello de la Nougerede’s
I’m Ruth (age 27) sister of Laura living in Canterbury in Kent, i really didn’t know there were any other de la Nougerede’s in Sussex! i used to look em up in the phonebook when i was little! by the way our brother is called Joey!!!
Hope to meet some of you at some point!

  6. Nicki de la Nougerede Says:

    Hello everyone.

I am Nicki (29), sister of David, Michelle and Holly. I live in Rainham, Kent.

We have never heard of the annual ‘de la Nougerede’ party, but would be very interested in going!

  7. Michelle Sward Says:

    Hello!

Well I was a de la Nougerede until last year when I got married. I’ve got to say I do miss the name now and having to spell it all the time(boo hoo) I’m the oldest sister of Nicki, David and Holly. Our dad, Clive, came over from India when he was 2 I believe.

I used to think we were the only ones but the power of the internet just shows!

I live in Coulsdon, Surrey but that move was because my husband works this way……..my sisters, brother and I all grew up in Bromley, Kent.

Like my sister Nicki I would be very interested in going to the annual ‘de la Nougerede’ bash…….are there more of us up in St.Alban’s then???

  8. Michelle Sward Says:

My dad Clive de la Nougerede is one of five and came over from Calcutta in India in 1949. His dad (my grandad) was called Louis Jean de la Nougerede.

I’m pretty sure we must all be related in some way……do these names ring any bells with anyone?

  9. Rod Delanougerede Says:

Hello, I’m Rod (23 years old). You may wonder why Im not typing the surname in the ‘proper’ fashion… long story but next time I get a new passport I intend on having it put the right way! My family moved from India to the Southampton area in the 1960′s I think (not totally sure though!) Both my parents were born in India, but me and my brothers are all born here in the UK.

Interesting to read that so many of you are based in the South. Also interesting to hear there’s an ‘annual party’…

  10. Aubrey Says:

Some years ago I did some ‘one name’studies for the names: dela Nougerede; des Bruslais; Fleury and Pinto as well as others. (My great grandmother was Emma Vesper Mary Delanougerede.)

My research for these families focussed on the records for India, which are deposited at the British Library and the records deposited at the PRO – Kew and at St Catherine’s House. (Sadly information for the Pintos was limited). I think I have most (if not all) the baptism, births and death entries for England and India somewhere!. I also think that I have copies of all of the certs in this regard held at the British Library. I also have all the refs for births, marriages and deaths in England, and have some certs for these.
Regrettably I have not done any research for the last ten years. Consequently, I do not have the the up to date details and refs in England during last ten years.
If anyone would like any information about the aforementioned families then I would be happy to help.

Once-upon-a-time all my records were on my computer and I could see all the interconnections between the families mentioned! Sadly some years ago my hard drive crashed and I lost all the computer entries. Sadly I have not had the time to enter them again. Therefore, I will have to research my paper records manually to answer any questions.

I do have some pictures of my family in India and would very much like to get more pictures so that I could put faces to the names of the family I have collected for these families. Perhaps others reading this could help.

    Best wishes Aubrey.

  11. Aubrey Says:

    Hi again!

I just found one book of records for Dela Nougerede entries. The first entries for Bengal; India Index:
Baptism – Eliza dela Nougerede (1818).
Marriage – Louis (Lewis Dela Nougerede to Sarah Meller (1814). Burrial – Sarah De la Nougerede (1826) She was married to L. dela Nougered aged 27 years.
    The first records for England:
    Birth – Peter G Delanougerede (1948)
    Marriage – Leonard Delanougerede (1954)
Death – Sarah Delanougerede (Wife of L Delanougerede) (1826)
    From List of Civil Servants:
    Ref (IRO 0/6/13 p.361)F Delanougerede – Fort William 1813
This is not the same person as F A delanougerede (b.15/9/1890)- District Controller Bengal Railway Stores Dept Kanchrapara (X/13/234 Dec 1929)

Delanougeredes in Bengal are not listed in French European lists prior to 1800, and as such I think delanougedes came to Bengal after 1800.
I think one of the first Delanougeredes in Bengal was Louis Delanougerede.
If Lewis was 21 when married he would be born abt 1793. Their is a burial record for a L delanougerede which states he was 40 years old at time of burial (buried – 1/2/1829) This suggests that this person was born 1788/9. This may not be the same Louis who married Sarah Meller. I can’t at the moment find certs and without them cannot be sure this was the same person but I think he was.
Lewis had at least three children:
    Eliza (bap. 3/8/1818)
    Lucrettia (bap.28/1/1821)
    Francis Matthew (bap. 20/4/1823)
There is also inventory records at IRO for Jean Marie delanougerede:
    1813 Vol/2 L/AG/34/27/48
    1817 Vol/2 L/AG/34/27/59
    1819 Vol/2 L/AG/34/27/63
    I can’t find my copies.
The first entry for delanougerede in the India Register for the list of European Inhabitants is dated 1816 Lewis F Delanougerede accountant in export warehouse. Their is also a record of a death of a son in the 1816 register of the death of son of MR. L. Delanougerede (d. 22/11/1815
Interestingly their is also a birth of a son recorded East India Register – son born 21/5/1816 to Mrs L M Delanougerede.
in 1814 their is a record of daughter born to Mrs S delanougerede 4/6/1818 and a son on 17/01/1825.
There is also a record in the East Index of the death of L Dealnougerede 01/02/1829.

Perhaps when I find certs things will become a bit clearer.

Thackers Post directory shows and E Delanougered working for East India Railway, 55 upper circ. road , town side.
1865 alphabetical index of inhabitants also shows a C.W Delanougerede as a tea planter Ann’s Hill Goswarthy and a J L Delanougerede as an inspector of the suburban police, Ootadangah
There is also a record of a L J Delanougerede as a Div Forest officer Cachar and an R A Delanougerede as a special officer in charge of Hardinge bridge E.B ry Paksey.

From my records the delanougeredes were engaged in various occupations in India. From memory I also seem to recal that one Delanougerede sent his son back to Battersea to be educated in England.

Hope this helps a bit with the history of the family.

Hi Laura and Ruth. My records suggests your mother’s maiden name is Sedwell and married yoru dad 1970. With a bit more info I might be able to trace your ancestory in India if you want.
Hi Nicki and Michelle. My records show your mother’s maiden name as Weaver. I do not seem to have a record for your father named Clive but still with a bit more info might be able to trace ancestry in India. However I do have a record for Louis J baptised 1917. which suggests that I do have the bap cert somewhere. In which case I might be able to trace your ancestry too if you want. Michelle I think that you are correct in assuming that anyone from India called delanougerede is related in some way as I seem to recall at on time being able to link most if not all the names in my files.

Hi Christine. I can’t find anything at moment for you and would need a bit more info to trace your ancestry if you want.
Hi Rod your mother’s maiden name is Duff (I think) so might be bale to trace your ancestry if you want.

    Best wishes Aubrey

  12. Rod Delanougerede Says:

    Hello Aubrey

You are correct, my mother’s maiden name is Duff. I’m very impressed! If you could trace my ancestry that would be brilliant.

    Best wishes,
    Rod

  13. Keith Augier Says:

Hello all Delanougeredes. Being an Augier my family is very closely tied to the Delanougeredes with my Father’s mother Maud and her sister Stella being married to my Grandfather Clarence Stanislaus Augier. I too found this site by accident and I thought I would direct you all to a site provided by a relative of ours called Derek Perry. He has a great article on the Dela’s called ‘Tea in Assam and the Delanougeredes’
    http://www.koi-hai.com/DerekPerry.html
Great to read all your comments.

  14. Luke De La Nougerede Says:

Hi, I’m Luke De La Nougerede – the grandson to John De La Nougerede who was also born in India and came over to the UK in as far as I know was the 40′s.

It’s really weird seeing so many De La Nougerede’s around in once place! But yeah, does anyone actually know what Nougerede translates to? I know De La obviously is ‘of the’ from French, but I don’t have a clue about Nougerede…

    Thanks, Luke

  15. admin Says:

  17. Darryl Pinto Says:

Hello to anyone related to me.
This is a note to Michelle Sward who wrote on the 28th July 2007
My name is Darryl Pinto and my Dad was Oswald [Ozzie] Pinto married to Doris, Marie, Claire
    [nee des Bruslais]
We came to England in September 1950 and lodged with your Dad’s father Louis and wife Sylvia in St Pauls Cray, Orpington, Kent, for a couple of months until my Dad bought a house in Herne Hill, London SE24.
Louis senior used to refer to my Dad as Uncle
I remember Clive and all his siblings, Louis, Errol, Alan and Irene and what a coincidence! I have been searching for the de la Nougerede name only in the last few months, together with the des Bruslais name.
When I married I did live in Wallington for a short time, not far from Coulsdon but now I reside in Hampshire.
What happened to Louis Jnr, I know that he once worked at Parsons Brown in Brentford and Errol, Alan and Irene.
This note will also be of interest to Aubrey who wroteon the 30th Sept 2007. Your Great grandmother Emma Vesper Mary de la Nougerede was my Dad’s mother.

  18. Darryl Pinto Says:

    Hello Georgina
I hve just left a message for your daughter Michelle, before I read your letter.
I apologise since I really should have addressed it to you.
Give my regards to Clive, he may remember me when we stayed it his Dad’s place at 12 Beddington Road, St Pauls Cray.
    Regards
    Darryl

  19. Heather Dela-Nougerede Says:

Hi everyone, I never knew that there were Dela-Nougerede quite so close to us! I haven’t had a look at the family tree yet but I might be able to add something ot it…

  20. Heather Dela-Nougerede Says:

oh i just remembered, me and my family live in the south-east london, in chingoford, plz contact me if you libve around this area!!!

  21. Paul Dela-nougerede Says:

hey everyone! im heathers (above) cousin!
    i live in chingford too.
for the person who asked “dela-nougerede” means “of the nobility” in french.
we had quite high class ancestors who escaped the french revoution.

  22. Sarah dela Nougerede Says:

Hi to all my Cousins, Second Cousins, Aunties and Uncles….etc

I am Sarah, Paul’s older Sister and Amanda’s younger sister. It’s great that there are so many dela Nougerede’s, although i am now a Rapson..hey-ho..
Would be very interested in this annual party..!!!
Our Dad is Louis Austin dela Nougerede and is Uncle Clives, Uncles Errols, Auntie Irene’s and Uncle Alans eldest brother.

  23. sarah dela Nougerede Says:

Ps My brother Paul lives in Highgate, London. The Paul above, cousin of Heather must be a long distance relative….??

PPs – David – This site is a great idea!!!!

  24. Louis A Dela nougerede Says:

Hi all you Dela Nougerede’s. So nice to see so many with my family name responding to this site. A really great Idea Dave. I was led to this site by my daughter Sarah…..thanks Sarah.

I’m The eldest son of Louis(senior) J Dela Nougerede(deceased) and my Mum was Sylvia I. (Maiden name Dobson) (deceased). The family (mum and dad and 3 children-Louis, Errol and Clive) arrived in UK from Bombay in the late 1940′s on the P&O liner RMS Stratheden and set up camp with other family members(some of them deceased now) in London and Kent I believe. Some of my earliest recollections were being onboard that ship. We had very close relatives here under the name of Dobson and also Debrulays(probably spelt incorrectly). Most of my Uncles and Aunties have now passed away, or I have lost contact with them, though as a child my family had very close ties with other members already here, but through the years those links seem to have disappeared. The younger generations (my cousins) however are still around, and with luck will find this web site and post notes for us all to read. As a note to where I am right now, I reside in Jakarta Indonesia and have been here for many years now.

I am the older brother of Clive Dela Nougerede and Dave(the owner of this web site) is his son and my Nephew. Hi Dave, a great idea and already getting a few good hits. The family has been trying off and on for some years to trace the Dela Nougerede origins with a little success, as it seems allot of the history disappeared with the deaths of various family members over the years, but I believe that there are still some surviving family members alive in Calcutta and also Burnpur(where Dad used to work on the Indian railways as a structural engineer) India, so with this web site, maybe they will be able to contact us in due time. My son Paul also has been researching the family name and has some info to share at some point. As my fathers past was mainly British, his lineage is French I was led to believe and I was told by my father that there is to this day a château in France with the family name attached to it, although I am led to believe that it does not belong to any family member and is disrepair. As my Mothers maiden name is very English (Dobson) it would also be nice to trace her lineage too.

What is interesting to me is the comments from Aubrey. Hi Aubrey, it was very interesting reading your comments and efforts tracing the family name. Are you a dela Nougerede as you did not say so clearly. anyway I was very interested to read in your2nd commentary to Nicki and Michelle (Hi both of you from Uncle louis) that you quote “However I do have a record for Louis J baptised 1917. which suggests that I do have the bap cert somewhere. In which case I might be able to trace your ancestry too if you want” unquote. Looking at the headstone of my fathers grave, the date of his birth was indeed 1917. If you have info on my dad I would dearly love to read what you have at some future time. Maybe we can exchange info together? I can be reached by asking Dave for my Email address.

Hi Darryl, yes I am still in the land of the living, and I vaguely remember you. It strange that you still remember the old address of my childhood in bedding ton road. I went there on one of my visits to UK for a bit of a trip down memory lane. It’s years since we met now, but my you have a good memory. I would like to correspond with you so my email address can be got from Dave.

I look forward to reading more comments and facts on this web site in the future as the site develops.

  25. Darryl Pinto Says:

    Hi Louis
it was great to read your comment and I have e mailed Dave for your e mail address as well as Clive’s, so I hope that we will soon be contacting one-another.
    Best regards
    Darryl

  26. Donald delanougerede Says:

Hi i am donald De la nougerede son of Donald federick de la nougerede who joined the RAF from india and came to England in 1943 I am uncle to heather and paul from chingford and am now living in spain so any de la nougerede living here near malaga let me know

  27. Victoria Wood Says:

    Hi Everyone!

I suppose my name looks a little bland on this site – unfortunately all the
delanougeredes and desbruslaises were on the female side of my family tree!

Darryl Pinto is my Great Uncle (my grandfather’s brother) although that makes him
sound much older than he is! I’ve been doing a bit of digging into the family (and
have just got back from a bit of a wander across north India) and thought I’d step
up the pace a little. So far most of the information I’ve had is from the net -
particularly the Augier website which links up with my ancestors a few generations
    back.

It’s very strange reading all the posts and recognising names that pop up in your
own family tree. Interesting how none of us seem to have left the south east – I was
raised in Berkshire and now live in Maida Vale.

Would be great to hear any bits that people find out about the family!

  29. Mandy Tristram Says:

    Hi all

My name is Mandy Tristram, I am a descendant of the de la Nougerede and Augier Families. My maternal Grandfather was Maurice Herbert de la Nougerede (2nd son of Louis Jean Francis de la & Constance Augier – 1st wife) and my Grandmother was Elsie Isobel Augier.

If any of you are interested there is some info on the Augier website for the de la Nougerede family tree (www.augier.info – from home page click geneology link, then Surname link. When you have found the person you are looking for, click on link and then pedigree – this will give you their tree). There are some 600+ names on this tree and if you’re not listed, I do have a more comprehensive de la Nougerede tree but it is not currently online.

It has been great to read all of the comments above and as so many of you are interested in the ‘party’ – I would like to take this opportunity to invite you along to this years ‘DO’.

It’s the 49th Augier/de la Nougerede Get Together.

If you are interested in coming along and meeting the family, could you drop me a line and I’ll let you have all the details. Please email David for my email address.

It would be wonderful to meet you.

    Kind regards

    Mandy

  31. admin Says:

    Hi All,

I’ve had a little family tree maker mini website created, with the aim (if you don’t mind helping out) to get your direct family’s tree such as grandparents, parents, siblings and children. Then when you have filled out your little bit ill put together a chart to see how we all link together (if in fact we do).

As its a fairly simple family tree website so you wont be able to fill out details such as your brother or sisters children or your parents siblings but you can create a new tree for them if you wish.

If you know your grandparents parents or even their grandparent’s details then you can create the tree with them as the person login into the form.

Its a really simple form so should only take you a few minutes, the tree maker site can be found at http://www.delanougerede.com/FamilyTree/default.php

    Thanks in advance

  33. André Saubolle Says:

    Hi all,

I am not a delaNougerede member but have done extensive research on the family because I am trying to establish the identity of two delaNougerede who married into my family. This work may be seen on http://gw0.geneanet.org/index.php3?b=asaubolle&lang=en&m=NG&t=N&n=delanougerede&x=7&y=4.

The two I am interested in are Perine Adelaide married to Louis Edward Saubolle. The other is another Perrine married to Edward (Edouard) Saubolle. If any one can shed any light on this conundrum I would be very grateful.

    Great site by the way

    All the best
